About Us

Southpaw Labradors is a small kennel located in the historic town of Redding, Connecticut.  Owner Claire Fischer has been breeding English style Labradors since 1999.  All of Southpaw’s dogs are  registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). Southpaw Labs is dedicated to preserving the temperament and health of all of the litters, as well as comforming to the parameters of the AKC standard for Labrador Retrievers. Labrador Retrievers are one of the best breeds of dogs on earth! They’re fun, funny, friendly, intelligent, dependable, outgoing, and totally loving.

Southpaw’s breeding dogs are Claire’s personal dogs and live in her home.  Because of this, all of her puppies are well-socialized from a very young age and make wonderful family and companion dogs.

All of Claire’s dogs are health tested for hips, eyes and elbows and are cleared and certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).  Her breeding dogs also have a variety of genetic testing done in order to rule out common breed specific issues. Claire prioritizes the health and well being of her breeding dogs and all of their puppies, and follows all of the appropriate puppy protocols.

Claire has worked in the field of veterinary medicine all of her life.  As a Veterinary Technician, she possesses a unique insight into identifying the best temperament and qualities that make for the healthiest and happiest of litters.

All of Southpaw’s puppies come with a limited AKC registration.
